It seems that the next HTC flagship phone goes by many names, including M8, One+ and One 2. One of these, One+, could never materialize since it is a trademark already owned by former Oppo exec Pete Lau. HTC M8 is a codename and Taiwanese company apparently thought that One 2 doesn’t sound quite right. So what are we left with? If the latest rumors are to be believed, the company opted for The All New One. Frankly speaking, it sounds a bit rare, more like a marketing tagline actually. We definitely wouldn’t mind if the phone ended up being called HTC One 2014, but it’s not our decision to make.
HTC One 2014 – The All New One Phone
Aside from the weird name, @evleks brings more news regarding the phone. According to his tweet, the device will be launched in gray, silver and gold. As a confirmation, the tipster posted a press image of the new HTC device wearing gold armor.
Previous rumors suggested also red and blue version of the phone. The absence of these two color options from the tweet doesn’t necessarily mean that they are not legit. One possible explanation is that red and blue HTC could be released later, as it happened last year with the original One.
The leaked image confirms that the next-generation HTC One will be very similar to the original model in terms of design. The phone will feature stereo BoomSound speakers, dual-camera setup on the rear and a dual-color LED flash. Key features of the HTC All New One include a 5-inch display with Full HD resolution, a Snapdragon 800 processor and physical or capacitive buttons on the front.
The handset will go official on March 25th in New York and London simultaneously.
