Hisense Sero 8Hisense has made its name in Asia and Europe, however, the company isn’t the most popular brand in the US when it comes to tablets, or any other devices for that matter. It doesn’t mean that Hisense products aren’t worth considering. On the contrary, the Chinese manufacturer has a history of releasing devices that combine decent hardware with reasonable prices which is a mix we always love to see. That said, and 8-inch Hisense Sero 8 Android tablet has just arrived in the US and it’s priced at just $129. At the moment, the tablet is offered exclusively by Walmart.

Hisense Sero 8 Android Tablet

Sero 8 TabletsThe Hisense Sero 8 is a pretty portable device with dimensions of 8.2 x 5.1 x 0.41 inches and 6 pounds of weight. The tablet sports an 8-inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution and is powered by a quad-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. The chip definitely won’t break any records in speed; however, when paired with 1 GB of RAM it shouldn’t have any problems in delivering solid performance. The slate offers 16 GB of built-in memory for your content and a microSD slot for storage expansion up to 32 GB.

The Sero 8 is also equipped with dual cameras with a 2-megapixel main sensor and a VGA front-facing camera for video chatting and selfies. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, mini USB port and HDMI port for connecting the tablet to your HDTV.

The 4,000 mAh battery should have enough juice to deliver up to four hours of HD video playback and seven hours of web browsing or e-reading. The Sero 8 ships with Android 4.4 KitKat on board and a multitude of pre-loaded apps such as YouTube, Chrome, VUDU HD Movies, walmart.com, sams.com, Nook eReader, Pandora, Facebook, Twitter and more.

As you can see, the specs list won’t bring you to your knees. The Sero 8 is far behind Apple, Samsung and the likes, but then again, Hisense never aspired to be compared to those companies. The Sero 8 is aimed at users who want an inexpensive device for entertainment on the go, not an advanced tool with high-end specs for professional work. With such favorable price to specs ratio, the Sero 8 stands a chance to score quite a few fans. Could you become one of them?
