How can you tell that a big electronics show is going to happen soon? Because rumors regarding new devices such as smartphones, tablets and smartwatches are rapidly increasing in frequency and intensity. As always, some of them will turn out completely bogus, but we do hope that at least a few of them are true, for example, the one which claims that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to be announced on March 2nd at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Unpacked Event 2015
According to South Korean media, Samsung has an Unpacked event planned for March 2nd and this is when the company will make official its new flagship smartphone for 2015. Being one of the most expected handsets of this year, the Samsung Galaxy S6 hit the rumor mill a few times before, but it remains a pretty mysterious device. As new reports appear, it becomes clear that Samsung still has a few important decisions to make.
Earlier rumors suggested that Samsung intended to use Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 810. It may not happen, though. The processor allegedly tends to overheat and for this reason Samsung might drop it in favor of an Exynos chipset. Either way, the phone possibly will come with as much as 4GB of RAM.
Moreover, unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy S6 might not be water-resistant. That would be a shame, really, since water-resistance is a feature that can significantly increase a phone’s life. It also looks like the design of the Galaxy S6 is still up in the air – the Korean manufacturer could make the phone similar to the Note Edge, or opt for a brand new design.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6, like other members of the series, will certainly be one of the hottest devices of 2015. However, if there is some truth in this rumor and the phone indeed is going to be unveiled on March 2nd during the MWC, then it won’t have users’ undivided attention. Events like the MWC are when the most anticipated devices are announced and a day earlier, on March 1st, HTC is expected to presents the One M9. Anyway, so far Samsung hasn’t confirmed that the Galaxy S6 will debut on March 2nd (and hasn’t denied it either) so anything can happen. Hopefully we will learn more soon.
