Everything suggests that Samsung is almost ready to release a successor of the last year’s bigger mid-ranger Galaxy Grand 2, which is considered one of the South Korean manufacturer’s best selling smartphones in Q1 and Q2 2014. According to the recent leaks, China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, the equivalent of the US FCC, has just approved a handset dubbed Galaxy Grand 3 carrying model number SM-G7200. Despite the fact the handset hasn’t been officially announced yet, now, thanks to leaked materials, it is more than sure that the Galaxy Grand 3 will launch sooner than later.
Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 SM-G7200 Phone
Although previous rumors reported the Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 would carry a colossal 5.5-inch, the recently published certification materials leave no shadow of a doubt that it will sport the well-known 5.25-inch display we may find in its predecessor. Furthermore, it will also feature the same 720p resolution, which may seem to be a bit unsatisfactory as for such a large screen.
As for the body size, the new Galaxy Grand 3 measures 146 x 74.8 x 7.95 mm, and weighs 140 grams, which means it is thinner and lighter than its measuring 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm and weighting 163 grams predecessor.
But except carrying the same screen parameters as the Galaxy Grand 2, the upcoming Grand 3 has also undergone few improvements. The old Snapdragon 400 processor has been replaced by the 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 that consists of four 64-bit ARM Corex A53s. In addition, the Grand 3 comes equipped with 16GB of built-in storage (up from 8GB) that can be easily expanded up to 128GB via microSD cards.
Going deeper into the specs, the phone’s optics have also received an update, and now it sports a 13-megapixel main camera unit accompanied by a selfie-friendly 5-megapixel front shooter.
Concluding, though the Galaxy Grand 3 has received some upgrades, they’re sadly of minor character making the slate be nothing else than just a next mid-range device for all those users searching for an affordable large display smartphone.
When it comes to the Galaxy Grand 3’s launch date, availability and pricing, since the company hasn’t issued any official statement concerning the phone, nothing is actually known about the phone’s release details. Perhaps except the fact that it is rumored to hit the retailers dressed in white, black and other color schemes, but what colors exactly no one knows at this point. Hopefully, the upcoming months should deliver us some more specific information on the Grand 3’s debut.
