The successor of the Moto X called Moto X+1 has been one of the hottest topics in the recent weeks. We have seen all kinds of information regarding the handset, from very general speculations to some really juicy details, all of which we truly appreciate. One thing we didn’t know so far was what the phone was going to look like, at least not officially. Earlier today, however, first press image of the upcoming Moto X+1 appeared online.
Moto X+1 in Black & White Press Renders
The photos were revealed by our dear leaker Evan Blass aka @evleaks as his “retirement gift” to his faithful followers. While we are deeply saddened by Evan’s announcement, we can’t help but feel very happy that we finally get to see and admire the Moto X+1 design ahead of its unveiling. The images are obviously not official, but it’s @evleaks we are talking about so it’s very unlikely that the Moto X+1 will look any different when it arrives to the market.
The images show the Moto X+1 in two variants – one dressed all in black and the other with white front and wooden back panel. The phone has very slim bezels, front-facing speakers and four small “dots” around the screen which bring to mind Fire Phone’s face-tracking cameras. The rear camera, possibly with 12-megapixel sensor, appears to be supported by dual LED flash.
Thanks to Verizon logo, we know of at least one carrier which will offer the handset. The Moto X+1 is believed to bring some significant upgrades over last year’s Moto X. The phone is believed to feature a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution, a 2.4 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, a 2-megapixel user-facing camera and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Motorola has a press event scheduled for September 4th and we think the Moto X+1 could be announced during the said event. Some manufacturers have been known to hint the release date of their devices through a date on the display. If Motorola was to do that, then we could expect the phone to arrive on Verizon on September 17th. On the other hand, it could be just a random date, as good as any other. Hopefully, Motorola will reveal availability details during the Moto X+1 announcement.
