This week we already wrote about two cheap tablets: Matrix One and Coby Kyros and today we have one more to introduce – the Eken B70. The Chinese manufacturer has been offering affordable Android tablets for a few years and now is trying to enter the US market with its Eken B70, an 7-inch Android 4.0 ICS tablet.
The tablet is currently available from Chinese retailers at AliExpress for just $99, but there is a good chance the Eken B70 will be launched in the US any time soon. The device was spotted this week on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Web site, and it is a clear sign that the company is seeking regulatory approval to market the B70 tablet in the United States. However, if you do not wish to wait you can buy it now from AliExpress with free shipping to the US.

What can you expect from the Eken B70? First of all, the tablet 9.84 x 7.87 x 3.15 inches, and weighs in at 1.764lb, so it is quite average in the size aspect. It features a 7-inch 5 points capacitive touch screen with a rather low resolution of 800 x 480 pixel, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chats, and a 2 megapixel rear facing camera for capturing photos and videos.
The Eken B70 is powered by an AllWinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 single-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, which together with only 512 MB of RAM do not make a very impressive couple. This type of chip is very common in mini Android computers, so do not expect the tablet to bring you to your knees with its speed. On the bright side, the Eken B70 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with full access to Google Play and some other Google services, for example Google Maps or Gmail.
The internal memory is not outstanding either, since it offers you only 4 GB, but there is a microSD card slot so you can expand the storage capacity anytime you want up to 32GB. The Eken B70 sports an HDMI slot, so you can connect the tablet to a TV and share your movies, videos or games on the big screen with a wider audience.
The B70 tablet supports many file formats, for instance AVI, MP4, FLV, 3GP, MKV, and WMV for video, MP3, WMA, OGG, AAC, and WAV FLAC for audio, JPG, BMP, PNG and GIF for picture and PDF and TXT for text.
Other features of the Eken B70 include: DC jack, a mini USB port, a regular-sized USB port, earphone jack, support for multiple languages, support for MS Office files, and 2300 mAh battery which allows for up to 5 hours usage time without the need to recharge.
The Eken B70 will probably not be your first choice if you need an advance device for more professional tasks, but if you think about using it simply as an e-reader with additional features or buying it as a gift for your kid, it will certainly serves its purpose.
