Dell is back in the Android game with two new affordable Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets

Dell Venue 8It’s been a while since we heard any news from Dell, but it appears that the company is back in the Android game with two new affordable tablets – Venue 7 and Venue 8. Both devices are updates to last year’s models and were announced on Monday at Computex 2014. The smaller tablet will cost as little as $159.99, while the bigger will be priced at $199.99. Both will be available starting on July 1st through Dell’s official website store.

Dell Venue 7The Dell Venue 7 is, as the name suggests, is a 7-inch slate with 1280 x 800 display which is supposed to offer improved viewing angles and better outdoor visibility. The devices has a dual-core 1.6 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom Z3460 processor ticking inside. The tablet also comes with 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage expandable via microSD, 5-megapixel camera, 1-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 4.4 KitKat on board.

The Dell Venue 8 bumps the resolution to 1920 x 1200 pixels and is powered by a dual-core 64-bit Intel Z3480 processor clocked at 2.13 GHz. Like the Venue 7, the 8-inch tablet also sports 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of memory with microSD support for storage expansion and 5-megapixel main camera. The front-facing shooter, however, is equipped with 2-megapixel sensor. The Venue 8 also runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

In addition to the Venue 7 and 8, Dell also announced a bunch of new accessories to go with the tablets, including Bluetooth Portable Speaker, Bluetooth Keyboard Folio, Venue Rotating Folio, Duo Tablet Case, and the Venue Cradle.

The Bluetooth Portable Speaker can be paired with a number of devices, not only Dell’s new tablets, through Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The speaker has a wireless range of up to 30 feet and built-in microphone for hands-free calls. The Bluetooth Keyboard Folio is a wireless Android keyboard for the Venue 8 which also doubles as kickstand.

The Venue Rotating Folio for the Venue 8 is a nifty accessory that not only provides protection but thanks to the 360-degree screen rotation also allows for smooth, stable positioning in portrait or landscape modes. The Duo Tablet Case is a dual-layer cover that protects the tablet from damage. Finally, the Venue Cradle for the Venue 8 is a wireless charging device.
