Even though it may be hard to notice in some places, summer has arrived. It means warm weather, lighter hair, darker skin, more free time to meet friends and family, trips and generally lots of fun. Smartphones are fun and a good way to celebrate the beginning of summer. With that in mind, Cricket Wireless kicked off a summer sale offering several smartphones at promotional prices.
Cricket Wireless summer sale include smartphones priced at $0.99
The deal runs through July 9th and is available only in Cricket retail stores. As a part of the promotion Cricket is offering a bunch of phones at various price ranges and with different sets of specs so everyone should find a device that suits them best. The deal is good for existing Cricket customers as well as those who want to switch from another carrier. However, AT&T subscribers are excluded from the promotion which is logical, since AT&T now owns Cricket.
Promotional prices start at just $0.99 and for that much (or little) money you can get the Nokia Lumia 635 or the ZTE Prelude II. These two phones require a new activation of a smartphone plan and you will have to pay for the first month of service upfront. If nether of the two is your cup of tea, you can grab the HTC Desire 510 for $29.99 or the ZTE Overture 2 for $49.99. Actually, the latter comes with a $50 mail-in rebate so in the end you will get the phone for free.
If you aim higher than that, Cricket is offering the new Moto E (LTE) for $79.99. The phone packs a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 540×960 pixels, a Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 1GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera, a VGA selfie shooter, a 2,390 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop which is quite a lot for under $80. Another phone worth considering is the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime which is equipped with a 5-inch 540×960 display, a Snapdragon 410 chip, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a generous 5-megapixel user-facing sensor and a 2600mAh battery. This one is priced at $129.99.
Other phones that Cricket discounted as a part of its summer sale include the ZTE Grand X which can be had for $99.99 and the ZTE Grand X Max+ which currently costs $169.99. Apple fans will be happy to know that the carrier is also offering the iPhone 5C at promotional price of $299.99.
As we mentioned, the promotion expires on July 9th so in theory you have a week and a half to take advantage of the deal. However, the carrier also says that “prices are subject to change without notice” so our advice would be not to wait until the last moment. Moreover, interest in phones offered at discounted prices is likely to be high meaning that stores may run out of stock of the most popular devices before the promotion ends. Keep that in mind if you are planning to buy any of the handsets.
