When you think „rugged phone”, what usually springs to mind is a device with a not very attractive design and poor set of specs. Forget that. If what we have just found out is true, we could be looking at a completely new trend in heavy-duty phones’ league. On his Twitter account @evleaks posted a render photo of the Casio Commando 4G LTE and it looks nothing like the majority of the rugged phones currently available on the market. And since @evleaks has a spotless track record, we have little reason to doubt him.
Casio Gzone Commando 4G LTE for Verizon
The Casio Commando 4G LTE sports a Verizon Wireless logo above the screen, so obviously this is the carrier the phone will be heading to. The leaked photo was not accompanied by any technical details but since the render matches perfectly a photo received earlier by the FCC, we can pull some specs from the user manual. The phone will be water-resistant and dustproof and should not suffer any damage when you accidentally drop it on the floor.
The handset will ship with Android OS, though exact version remain unknown at this point. The Casio Commando will feature an LTE radio so it will run nicely on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Other rumored specs include dual cameras, and an 8 GB microSD card. Unsurprisingly, the launch date is not known. The phone’s display shows July 3, so for the time being we can go with that, though it is a long shot. Anyway, we will let you know as soon as we find out more.
