Most smartphones hit the market wearing traditional black and white colors. These are rather unassuming hues perfect for people who don’t want to stand out, but kind of boring too, especially if there is a whole army of black and white phone looking at you from every shelf. How about a little bit of a change? Red feels like a good choice this time of the year, with Valentine’s Day a little over a week away. If you haven’t picked a gift for your Valentine yet, here is an idea – a red Nexus 5 which showed up on the Google Play Store.
Google Nexus 5 in Bright Red
The bright red Google Nexus 5 costs exactly the same as the black and white versions, that is $349 for 16 GB and $399 for 32 GB, unlocked. Rumors about a red Nexus 5 started to make rounds in late January and were followed by leaked press images with released date set at February 4th. Sure enough, yesterday the phone went on sale in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Korea. Other European markets will see the handset later this month.
Except for a new paintwork, the red Nexus 5 doesn’t bring anything new to the table, so you can expect the same quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB or 32 GB of internal memory. Above a 4.96-inch Full HD display sits a 1.3-megapixel user-facing camera, while an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization and LED flash resides on the back. Other features include 2,300 mAh battery, LTE support, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
