ByinAnnouncements | May 6, 2014

Boost Mobile $40 PlanYour contract is about to come to an end and you don’t want to get tied to one carrier for the next two years? If you thinking about trying something new, like prepaid service for example, you may want to consider the new refreshed Boost Mobile offer? The carrier launched today new cheaper prepaid plans for basic phones and smartphones. Besides the competitive pricing, the plans do not require signing up any long term contracts. The new plans are called Monthly Unlimited Select and they start as low as $40 per month for unlimited talk, text and limited data. The new offer is available beginning today via online store and local dealers.

New cheaper prepaid plans starting at $40

Boost Mobile New Unlimited PlansAlthough the new Boost Mobile prepaid plans carry “unlimited” tag in their name, access to high-speed data will be limited, at least in a certain way. For $40 per month you will get unlimited talk and text plus access to 500 MB of high-speed data. The $50 per month plan includes 2.5 GB of high-speed data at your disposal in addition to unlimited talk and text, while the $60 per month plan offers 5 GB of data. And here’s the catch. When you hit the data cap, the speed will be throttled to 2G for the remained billing cycle.

There is also another detail you should be aware of. Boost Mobile is owned by Sprint and relies on Sprint’s network for its service. However, there are still some areas where Sprint’s 4G LTE coverage is not available. As of today, Sprint offers 4G LTE in 443 markets including US major cities such as Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Juan in Puerto Rico. If you happen to live in a region where there’s no 4G LTE, “high-speed” data will mean 3G speed in your case.

Also, the new Boost Mobile plans no longer include Shrinking Payment option. Shrinking Payment allowed users to reduce their bill by $5 after every six on-time payments up to $15 per month total. However, users needed as long as 18 months to reach the maximum savings and some customers didn’t want to stick around for such a long period of time.

Boost’s new Monthly Unlimited Select prepaid plans come with some interesting benefits. For example, Boost Wallet provides quick and easy check cashing option which allows users to deposit a paycheck by uploading its photo. The digital wallet also includes free domestic and international money transfers.
