Boost Mobile added Samsung Galaxy S5 to its high-end smartphones portfolio

Boost Mobile Galaxy S5Boost Mobile confirmed that would be offering the Samsung Galaxy S5 a few days after the phone was announced, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when earlier today the carrier added the device to its high-end smartphones portfolio. Boost Mobile is a pre-paid carrier so it doesn’t require signing up contracts. Consequently, you can’t take advantage of subsidies that normally are a part of long-term agreements. In other words, it means that you will have to pay full retail price for the Galaxy S5 which, in the case of Boost Mobile, is $599.99. For comparison, it’s exactly the same as Verizon’s off-contract price and $50 less than Sprint’s and AT&T’s.

Galaxy S5 AndroidThe Samsung Galaxy S5 has been official since February so chances are that you are pretty familiar with the phone. However, in case you are not, here is a quick reminder of the handset’s key specs, just to make sure you are aware of all its strong and weaker points. So, here we go.

The Galaxy S5 is a Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone featuring a 5.1-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and powered by a quad-core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The phone sports 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory expandable up to 128 GB through microSD slot.

The device is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with super fast auto-focus, LED flash and a variety of shooting and editing options. There is also a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for high-quality selfies and video chatting. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, NFC and Wi-Fi with hotspot capability providing support for up to 8 devices.

In addition to the above features, which are standard in premium smartphones, the Galaxy S5 has a few more bonuses to offer. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner which serves to unlock and lock your smartphone with the swipe of your fingerprint. There is also a heart rate monitor which, together with the S Health app, turns the handset into a perfect workout companion.

Finally, the Galaxy S5 comes with IP67 certification which means that the phone is protected from dust and liquid ingression, so you can leave it in water 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes and it shouldn’t suffer any damage.
