Blu Vivo 5R is an aluminum smartphone with fingerprint scanner and Sony-class camera for less than $200
So far we all identified a metal body as one of the features defining flagship smartphones. However, US-located manufacturer BLU put all their efforts to change this state of things and released the BLU VIVO 5R. Priced for less than $200 the refresh of the VIVO 5 comes dressed in an aluminum shell – a design reserved for premium devices- and boasts a package of solid specs with the biggest focus on optics.
BLU VIVO 5R debuts dressed in aluminum body and featuring Sony-made camera, fingerprint scanner and quite competitive price tag.
Although BLU Mobile is still far from having the status of noble Samsung or Apple, the company enjoys gradually rising interest on mobile market caused by delivering generously packed phones in all price sectors. Now the manufacturer decided to focus on launching a device that will attract attention of those interested in premium phones, which gave foundation to releasing the VIVO 5R. The phone is a revamped model of the released earlier this year VIVO 5.
Specs-wise, the phablet houses a massive 5.5-inch curved display with 1080p of resolution. Powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6753 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32 GB of expandable storage the BLU VIVO 5R works on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Other specs include 4G LTE connectivity, fingerprint scanner and a quite generous 3,150 mAh battery.
Although the mentioned specs are quite respectful, the VIVO R5’s biggest selling points are its aluminum body with 8.1 mm thick profile and optics. The phone sports a 13MP Sony IMX 258 camera with phase detection autofocus. The same sensor may be found in the Sony Xperia XA. Moreover, the rear snapper comes accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle camera for sharp selfies, even those shot in low-light. Except for camera parameters, the phone provides its potential users with high-quality audio experience enhanced by DTS Surround Sound Technology.
Offered in gray and gold finishes the BLU VIVO 5R is available for pre-order at Amazon and Best Buy for $199. However, both retailers will start shipping no sooner than on September 21st. Since the phone is an unlocked GSM device, it will be compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, Metro PCS and other GSM networks, but it won’t work with Sprint or Verizon. Its price tag will surely help the phone gain masses of users, as at this price level we don’t have much choice. Except for the Moto G4 and several older flagships, it’s hard to find a phone for $199 featuring an eye-catching metal body and more than decent specs.
