For that money you will get a pretty capable handset with a beefy battery that will ship to you in the first week of May. Additionally does not need long term contracts and is SIM-lock free which means that is compatible for any GSM services including AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro PCS or Cricket.

Blu debuts the R1 Plus successor

BLU added a new affordable Android phone to its portfolio. The R1 Plus is a 5.5-inch phablet with decent specs and a generous battery.

Earlier today the Miami-based BLU announced reviving of the extremely affordable R1 HD, which frankly speaking is a bold move taking into consideration the whole spyware issue. But this is isn’t the only news the manufacturer prepared for us. The carrier haven’t only restored the line, but in addition expanded it by another member. Unveiled today, the BLU R1 Plus is bigger and pricier sibling of the R1 HD.

Housing a 5.5-inch display the R1 Plus provides its potential users with 720 x 1280 p viewing experience. Since the larger screen panel requires bigger battery, BLU equipped the phone with a massive 4,000 mAh battery thanks to which you can enjoy long hours of entertainment without worrying about charging.

Driven by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3GHz  the handset sports 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage than may be easily expanded via microSD cards. Such processing parameters will surely deliver smooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow performance the device runs out of box. Sadly, there are no official confirmation on when or whether the handset will receive Nougat update. In the field of optics, the phabet offers a combination typical for its price sector that is a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie snapper on the front.

Closed in a premium-looking body with aluminum frame finish the dual-SIM R1 Plus arrives with all modern connectivity options, including fast 4G LTE. As it is a GSM/LTE capable device it should work with carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile, but it won’t be compatible with Verizon, US Cellular or Sprint.

Last but not least, the BLU R1 Plus is already for sale at Best Buy for just $139.99. Available only in black color option the phone is sold unlocked. Theoretically, the R1 Plus is a Best Buy exclusive offering, but the truth is that Amazon sells its own variant of the device with 3GB RAM and doubled storage. However, it costs $20 more.
