Today, during a press conference at Mobile World Congress, BlackBerry shared with the world their plans to release of a new touch screen phone featuring a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. At this point the handset doesn’t have a concrete release date, pricing and even a name, though it is said to come with a dual-curved display – a screen design solution that is a carbon copy of the one introduced by the Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 Edge.
BlackBerry to debut a new slider smartphone with curved display
Similar to the BlackBerry Torch when it comes to its physical appearance, the new BlackBerry handset is said to come with a bit old-fashioned QWERTY keyboard that you will be able to slide out when you are in need to send an email or text message.
Additionally, the traditional keyboard will be accompanied by a touch screen with two rounded edges, which is pretty interesting. Firstly, such a combination for sure will deliver a nice input experience for users. Secondly, taking into account that such approach to screen form factor isn’t very popular in the market and still appears to be something of a breath of fresh air to the mobile industry. Therefore, the curved edge display will make the device considerably less budget friendly.
The forthcoming BlackBerry phone is said to debut along with a new Porsche Design smartphone and one more handset that will sport physical QWERTY keyboard. At this point the Canadian company didn’t provided any further details concerning the mentioned devices.
This is pretty much everything we’ve learnt today about the BlackBerry’s new slider. As soon as we get some more info or leaks about the phone including pictures, specs, launch date, availability and pricing, we will let you know. Stay tuned!
