BlackBerry KEYone compatible with Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T networks is now available in the US
Those who feel a bit nostalgic about smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, may want to take a look at the BlackBerry’s latest offering. In a world of touchscreens, the Canadian-based manufacturer has dared to return to the physical keyboard – all these to deliver the most comfortable input ever. Launched today nationwide within US, the KEYone combines both a QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen display.
Compatible with both: GSM and CDMA networks, the BlackBerry KEYone has just hit stores in the US.
The BlackBerry KEYone is already available in the States in two variants: GSM and CDMA. This means that it is compatible with all major US carriers, including: Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T. Priced at $549.99 the phone may be purchased online via Amazon and Best Buy, or in select Best Buy’s brick-and-mortar stores. Carrier-bounded models of the handset will most likely go on sale this summer.
As for the device, the BlackBerry KEYone has been announced earlier this year in March. The phone comes dressed in a body shell with aluminum frame finish and soft textured back case. So the phone doesn’t only look great, but seems to be quite durable. Housing a 4.5-inch screen panel the phone provides it users with both: a touch display and a rare these days physical keyboard. To enhance the durability, BlackBerry covered the device’s display with a protective layer of scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Except for delivering a really convenient texting, responding to touch gestures the keyboard can be programmed to open up to 52 customizable shortcuts. So you can for instance press “M” to get access to maps.
Known for delivering advanced security, BlackBerry equipped the KEYone with a fingerprint scanner built into the keyboard spacebar. In addition, the KEYone arrives with pre-installed DTEK, a program that monitors and protects the handset by delivering alerts in case of privacy breach.
Running Android 7.1 Nougat with access to the Google Play the phone is driven by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a fast charging support. The 3,505 mAh battery reaches half of its power after just 36 minutes of charging. Meanwhile, in the optics department, the handset offers a 12MP primary camera with autofocus and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front.
