The BlackBerry Z10 is already available for purchase and the BlackBerry Q10 will be released later this year. Being high-end devices, the phones are offered with top price either with and without contract. The point is that not every Blackberry enthusiast will be able or want to pay costly price for new handsets with the latest, fresh software. If you still want to have a taste of the new Blackberry 10 operating system and you are on budget, we may have good news for you.
Low-end and Blackberry 10 R-Series
Based on a leaked photo that appeared on the BlackBerry 10 forum it appears that an entry-level BB10 phone is in works in the company. Moreover, we have already seen this device back in December last year. It was spotted together with the Z10 and Q10 devices. Very little was known about the handset back then, but now the photo comes accompanied by a handful of details.
The unannounced device supposedly belongs to the BlackBerry R-Series and is said to be a successor to the iconic BlackBerry Curve lineup. The phone features a QWERTY keyboard and a front-facing camera and will run the latest Blackberry 10 operating system. The phone is rumored to offer 8 GB of storage, microSD slot for expansion and less RAM than its high-end siblings.
The fact that the phone will come with lower-end specs will certainly reflect in the phone’s price. The BlackBerry R-Series smartphone is expected to cost around $300-$400 without a contract, which is significantly less than the company’s current flagship phones.
