Back in 2012 Best Buy offered $50 gift cards for users planning to upgrade their phones. The promotion was repeated in 2013 and as tradition requires this year is back again. If you are eligible for upgrade and willing to extend your contract with your carrier for the next two years, you will be gifted with $50 Best Buy gift card. The credit can be used towards the purchase of your new phone anytime in 2014.
How to get FREE $50 Gift Card
Conditions of the deal are simple. All you have to do to receive the gift card is register your phone number and email address, along with four other phone numbers on a family plan (if you wish) in local stores or online. You have time to do that until February 15th.
Next step is to upgrade using the registered number (numbers) and sign a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon Wireless. This year, T-Mobile is not included in the deal, since the carrier is no longer offering subsidized phones thanks to uncarrier crusade.
Done? If so, Best Buy will give you a $50 credit towards the purchase of your new phone. And here is the best part – the promotion runs through December 31st 2014, so you don’t have to grab the first phone that seems good enough but you can patiently wait for the phone of your dreams as long as it arrives later on in 2014, such as Galaxy S5 or iPhone 6.
There is one little catch, though. The deal is valid only for upgrades and transferred numbers, so new lines are not eligible for the credit. Sorry folks, maybe next time. If you are still hesitating, you should know that registration doesn’t oblige you to do anything at all. If you change your mind about extending the contract, the credit is simply gone with the wind like nothing happened.
