The IFA in Berlin is buzzing with new technological advances presented by numerous companies. ASUS didn’t go unnoticed this time by unveiling its first wrist-wearable, Android Wear run smartwatch – the Asus ZenWatch. Last week, ASUS had put up a teaser video about its new smartwatch, so it was not surprising that they officially presented their new product on IFA in Berlin. Earlier this year, ASUS was mentioning that they were planning on making a watch that would compete with other smartwatches in the market. According to their statements, ASUS smartwatch was planned to be different from other wearables and feature gesture based controls.
Asus ZenWatch – Stylish & Elegant Smartwatch
The ZenWatch has a rectangular/squarish, yet round edged design with a stainless steel case and a tan-colored strap which apparently was exclusively designed by an Italian designer. The display uses AMOLED technology and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. All these make the watch look more traditional than other smartwatches and quite sophisticated with a feel of elegance to it. It looks simple, yet elegant.
As for the features of the ZenWatch, it has ability to find your phone if you are within 10 meters. If you double tap the screen of the watch, it makes your phone ring. Another interesting function that the ZenWatch has is, when someone is calling you and if you do not want to answer the call, you can just cover the watch and it will mute itself. Isn’t that useful?
Also, a remote camera on the watch allows you to take pictures remotely. So, if you don’t want to take a selfie or a group photo with extending your arm as far as you can, you can just place your phone in front of you and tap your watch, which will prompt your mobile to snap a photo. Another, very useful feature of the ZenWatch is that, when your connected phone senses the ZenWatch nearby, it automatically unlocks, saving you time and frustration at having to re-enter your pin or pattern every time.
The ZenWatch is also health conscious with fitness-oriented features and health control features. It has a 9-axis sensor which makes it a perfect wellness manager. It helps you monitor and track your exercise stats, such as steps you took, calories burned, duration of the activity, heart rate, intensity of the exercise and even the relaxation level. Users can also set certain health goals on the smartwatch and it will help them monitor their progress in reaching those goals.
Detailed specs of the watch include, a screen measured 1.63 inches with a resolution of 320 x 320. It is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. Battery life is said to last the whole day which means you will have to recharge it every night. The ZenWatch also has 512 MB RAM and 4GB storage space. It has a Bluetooth 4.0 LE for connectivity and has a waterproof certification up to IP55 rating which can withstand pretty strong jets of water. The watch looks and feels high-quality and it has impressed many people with its sleek look.
