When first phablets were released no one had any doubts that such big screens would take user experience to a whole new level. And then Asus moved a step further and launched the PadFone – a smartphone that docks into a tablet, which however launch in the US. It will change in the near future, though. The company has just unveiled the next-generation combo, the PadFone X. This time round the device will be available in the US exclusively from AT&T. The exact release date and pricing is yet to be announced.
Asus PadFone X 4G LTE AT&T Smartphone
Asus did not provide many details about the PadFone X, but by the looks of it, the device will be very similar to its predecessor. A photo accompanying the press release shows a handsome smartphone dressed all in black with silver highlights and AT&T logo on the back. Capacitive buttons are nowhere to be seen making us believe that Asus might be using software keys instead. The phone has a rear-facing camera, but the size of the sensor remains unknown. As for the tablet, all we can say with 100% certainly it that it is black and has buttons on the left side.
This is how much we were able to deduce from the image. To be honest, Asus did not give us much more information. The company revealed that the phone has a 5-inch Full HD display with dual front speakers and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The tablet comes with a 9-inch Full HD screen and has its own battery. According to Asus, both the smartphone and the tablet are thin and lightweight. The device supports 4G LTE connectivity with Voice over LTE.
