Archos has unveiled its smartphone lineup for 2015. Four new devices are scheduled to be presented at this year’s Mobile World Congress, which is actually about to begin tomorrow. We are speaking of the multimedia-oriented Archos 52 Platinum, 59 Xenon, 62 Xenon and the ultra slim Archos 5 Oxygen Plus. All of them are Android-based budget friendly offerings housing MediaTek processors and large screens. Let’s take a close-up at them.
New Archos Smartphones for 2015
The Archos 52 Platinum along with the Archos 59 Xenon and 62 Xenon comes with almost identical specs and features. The main difference between the models is lying in their screen size. The Archos 52 Platinum comes with a 5.25-inch display, while the 59 Xenon and 62 Xenon carry 5.9-inch and 6.27-inch displays, respectively. Though having different size factor, all three displays have the same 1280 x 720p resolution.
Other common parameters include the same 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB of built-in expandable via microSD cards storage. Furthermore, all three phones offer the same rear camera sensor, which in this case is an 8MP unit. When it comes to front-facing shooter, the 52 Platinum and 59 Xenon are equipped with a 2MP cameras, while the 62 Xenon comes with a definitely more selfie-friendly 5MP front-facing sensor.
Running the same Android 4.4 Kitkat software, all three handsets pack satisfying combination of connectivity options, including HSPA+, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and dual-SIM capability. When it comes to pricing the phones will cost $158, $147 and $170 respectively.
Housing only a 5-inch 1280x800p display the Archos 50 Oxygen Plus is the smallest of the all four debuting phones. What’s more, thanks to its 0.3 mm thick body it is also the slimmest one. The device comes powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek MT 6592 quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB of native storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD slot. The phone, just as the previously announced handsets, works on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
The first version of the Archos 50 Oxygen Plus will go on sale with 3G connectivity priced for something around $200 starting next month. Additionally in June the France-based manufacturer plans to launch a 4G LTE model with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
All of the new Archos handsets will be showcased at MWC in Barcelona that kicks off next week.
