There was a time when LTE connectivity was available only in the most high-end and consequently expensive smartphones. Luckily for all of us, that time is gone and now you can enjoy data with LTE super fast speed even when you are a little less off. The team of affordable LTE-capable phones will soon have two new members made by French smartphone maker, Archos. The company has announced the Archos 45 Helium 4G and 50 Helium 4G, both featuring 4G LTE connectivity, decent specs and budget-friendly price tags of $199.99 and $249.99, respectively. In case you are wondering, these are off-contract prices. We expect to see more of the duo at CES 2014 in just a few days.
Archos 45 Helium vs. 50 Helium
Both smartphones look almost identical with the most noticeable difference being the size. The Archos 45 Helium 4G is smaller, while the 50 Helium 4G is bigger but thinner. Different measurements mean different screen sizes and so the 45 Helium sports a 4.5-inch display with 480 x 854 resolution, while the 50 Helium has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.
The smaller phone features a 1700 mAh battery, a 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera and 4 GB of internal memory. The bigger of the two, on the other hand, packs an 8-megepixel main camera, 2-megapixel secondary camera, 8 GB of internal storage and a 2,000 mAh cell is providing power.
Other key features are the same for both phones. The duo is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 400 processors clocked at 1.4 GHz with Adreno 305 responsible for graphics. Each has 1 GB of RAM and a microSD slot for storage expansion, and ship with stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board with Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on the way.
