Archos 101 XS 2 with coverboard coming to stores for $279 just in time for the holiday season

Archos 101 XS 2Archos may not be the biggest name in electronics industry, but its products, for example tablets, are known to bring stylish design and decent specs at a cheap prices. This week the company announced the latest tablet in its Gen 11 range, the Archos 101 XS 2. A successor to the 101 XS, the 101 XS 2 come with significant upgrades and even more attractive price tag. The slate is scheduled to hit the store in December, just in time for the holiday season. It will set you back $279 for the tablet and “Coverboard” keyboard cover.

Archos 101 XS 2 TabletThe Archos 101 XS 2 is a 10.1-inch slate offering a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Its thin body houses a quad-core 1.6 GHz A9 processor with Mali 400 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. There is 16 GB of storage space for all your content plus a microSD slot compatible with up to 64 GB cards.

The slate sports front-facing speakers, built-in microphone as well as HDMI output. The device is also equipped with dual cameras, both with 2-megapixel sensor.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the Archos 101 XS 2 offers dual band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and GPS. The slate runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a full set of Google apps and comes pre-loaded with OfficeSuite Pro 6 for MS Office document support.

Except for the tablet, in the box you will also find a Coverboard keyboard. The accessory allows for faster and easier typing thanks to physical QWERTY layout which also acts as a protective cover.
