iPhone-6-plus-frontAfter months of nervous awaiting, after the flood of leaks and speculations the new generation iPhone has just been unveiled today at the Apple’s press conference in Cupertino, California. What’s even more interesting the new iPhone 6 comes in two different size versions: 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Both phones are bigger and thinner than previous iPhones plus both come equipped with upgraded hardware and new functionalities. Let’s take a look at the very first Apple’s phablet.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus with Retina HD Display

iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 PlusEverything suggest that the very first Apple iPhone 6 Plus phablet is undoubtedly the star of the event. Its 5.5-inch display is 1.5-inch bigger that the one featured by iPhone 5S, and almost 1-inch bigger than its smaller 4.7-inch brother iPhone 6. Although both phones sport the supreme Retina HD display, the iPhone 6 Plus features higher resolution of 1930×1080 that translates to pixel density of 401ppi. Aside of the great resolution, the new displays have improved accuracy of colors, including deeper blacks and the polarized layer provides better viewing in sunlight. The UI has also  been  optimized to fully cooperate with the larger display with offering split-screen mode in the phablet’s few apps.

Going deeper, the display is covered with an ion-strengthened glass, which means that all the rumors saying that the iPhone would be protected by sapphire glass were untrue. Instead of flat, blocky sides of previous iPhones, the iPhone 6 Plus display glass curves around the smartphone’s sides giving it more streamlined form. What’s more, the measuring only 7.1 mm iPhone 6 Plus along with iPhone 6 are said to be the Apple’s thinnest phones ever released. The back of the phone is made of anodized aluminum, accompanied by a stainless steel frame and an Apple logo on the back cover.

iPhone 6 PlusThis will be all as for the body design, let’s move to the iPhone 6 Plus specs. The smartphone is equipped with the brand new 64-bit A8 chip, which though 25 percent smaller than the A7 is 15 percent faster than the predecessor. The new processor is also 50 percent more energy efficient and  25 percent more powerful.  So, from now on you can expect the unprecedented gaming experience that thanks to the significantly improved GPU is said to be smoother and  more complex than never before. The A8 processor is supported by the second-generation M8 co-processor which measures your distance and steps due to new enhanced sensors like for example barometer.

The phone supports a new faster LTE Cat 4 connectivity, Voice over LTE capability and a new Wi-Fi calling that can smoothly shift between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The discussed new feature, Wi-Fi calling, will operate on T-Mobile in the US and UK.

As it comes to the phablet’s optics, the said to be the first Apple’s device sporting optical image stabilization iPhone 6 Plus comes with an improved iSight 8-megapixel rear camera with a True Tone dual LED flash. The shooter is capable to record 1080p videos and can focus two times faster than former iPhone’s cam sensors.

The new operating system comes along with, two-paned landscape mode, two-pane inbox view for the Messaged and Email apps, a new improved QWERTY keyboard taking the advantage of the device’s broader width and opportunity to add a profile photos of people you chatting with.

All the hardware is said to be powered by a non-removable battery (the battery’s parameters are still a mystery) that provide 16 hours of talk time, 24 hours on standby mode and even up to 14 hours of watching video.
