Released in 2016 the massive 12.9-inch iPad Pro was widely considered one the most comfortable tablets due to screen size-factor. However, there were also many users who although fell in love with the device’s specs, would prefer it to have a more compact body. Conscious of the needs of its customers Apple officially introduced today the long-rumored smaller version of the iPad Pro equipped with a more typical 9.7-inch display.
Apple takes the wraps off of the smaller variant of its famous 12.9″ iPad Pro. The new tablet comes with a 9.7″ screen panel and improved 12MP rear camera.
The 9.7″ iPad Pro is almost like a carbon copy of its bigger sibling in terms of external design and hardware. Both size variants are powered by the A9X processor, sport four speakers providing stereo sound experience depending on orientation and offer three storage options: 32GB, 128GB and new 256GB version.
The major difference between these two handset are optics parameters. Interestingly enough, the launched today 9.7-inch model of the iPad Pro beats its predecessor and arrives packed with a 12MP rear iSight camera capable to record 4K videos (previously found in the iPhone 6S), instead of the 8MP sensor featured by the 12.9-inch variant.
Furthermore, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro’s screen sports “True Tone” technology that allows the display to adjust its tone to the surrounding environment improving the panel’s readability. Meanwhile “Night Shift” mode, which is Apple’s another breakthrough, will take care of the device’s users’ good sleep by reducing the amount of blue light emitted by its screen. Apple claims that due to application of new technologies the handset’s display is 40 percent less reflective than the iPad Air and 225 percent brighter than the screen of the iPad Air 2.
Just as rumored, the new iPad Pro supports always-on Hey Siri assistant, Smart Connector for a new Smart Keyboard designed to be compatible with the smaller device and Apple Pencil stylus. Both accessories will surely enhance the tablet’s input and the same user’s experience making it not only a nice toy but also a handy tool of work for many professionals.
As for pricing and availability, the Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad Pro will cost from $599 for a 32GB Wi-Fi only model to $899 for the LTE 256GB model. If you don’t need so much storage you can always opt for the LTE 128GB variant priced at $749.
In addition, while launching a brand new tablet offering Apple cuts off prices of the older iPads. The 16GB iPad Air’s price has been reduced to $399. Right now at the previous price of the 16GB version that is $499 you can buy the 64GB model, whereas the 128 GB iPad Air 2 may be yours for $599.
