Like we’ve mentioned numerous times before, quality has its price, hence the most premium smartphones can cost a fortune. If you are in the market for the latest Android phone with all the bells and whistles on board, you probably should do some serious saving before, since such device could put a huge dent in your budget. However, if you could do with slightly more modest specs, for instance slower processor or lower screen resolution, there’s a bunch of options that will offer great value for a low price.
High-end smartphones are not cheap. However, there are plenty of phones manufactured by Samsung, Asus, Motorola, OnePlus and even Blackberry that offer great Android experience at a low price.
Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5
The Galaxy A3 and A5 belong to Samsung’s relatively new A-series which is aimed at more budget-conscious customers than the premium S lineup. Both phones share some of the specs, for example Snapdragon 400 processor, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera setup and 16GB of storage, but there are obviously some differences. The A3 has a smaller 4.5-inch qHD screen, 1GB of RAM and 1,900 mAh battery, while the A5 sports a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM and 2,300 mAh battery. The Galaxy A3 and A5 are pretty cheap and cost approximately $330 and $410, respectively.
OnePlus did a really great job with the second generation of its phone. The company kept what was best in the OnePlus One and improved what needed improving and the end result was a phone that offers near perfect specs-to-price ratio. For a price of just $299 you will get a Snapdragon 810 SoC, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera and generous 64GB of storage. What else could you demand for such price?
One of the Zenfone 2’s main selling points is its massive 3,000 mAh battery which should easily get you through the day of even intense usage. Other key features include 5.5-inch screen, Intel Atom Z3580 processor and 13-megapixel rear camera, and all these for just $199.
It’s BlackBerry’s second Android device and we have to admit that it’s pretty impressive. Even though the phone runs on Android OS, it comes with a number of cool software features BlackBerry users know and love and its keyboard is simply awesome. Moreover, the handset offers 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 5.2-inch scratch resistant display and Convenience Key. The BlackBerry DTEK50 is currently priced at $299.
If you are in the mood for a device coming from Asia, the Oppo F1 would be a great choice. The phone can be had for about $390 and for this pretty budget-friendly price you can expect stylish design and great specs. For starters, the device packs as much as 3GB of RAM as well as 8-megapixel user-facing camera. Other features worth mentioning include 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 616 chip, 16GB of internal memory, 2,500 mAh battery and a 13-megapixel main camera.
Samsung Galaxy J5
The Galaxy J5 is another Samsung-made smartphone on the list of cheap yet capable devices. The phone is equipped with a 5-inch HD screen, 13-megapixel rear camera and 8GB of built-in storage, out of which 4.6GB is available to user and powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor while the OS of choice is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The Galaxy J5 will set you back just $214.
Motorola Moto G4
The Moto G4 can probably be found on every list of inexpensive but great Android phones and for a very good reason – the device is awesome yet it costs only $200. What’s so awesome about the Moto G4? It sports a large and sharp 5.5-inch Full HD display and a generous 3,000 mAh battery. Moreover, the phone comes with a Snapdragon 617 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage as well as 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camers.
If you don’t mind a phone of somewhat less popular brand, then the Wileyfox Storm is the way to go. Its most standout feature is camera setup which includes 20-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front shooters – something you don’t see every day on a device that costs $254. Other than that, the Storm offers 5.5-inch Full HD screen, Snapdragon 615 chip, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory and 2,500 mAh battery.
These are the phones that deserve your special attention if you are in the market for a decent device but don’t want to fork out tons of money. Of course, when buying phones at cheap price, you shouldn’t count on any cutting-edge technology, but if you are looking for a smartphone for making calls, texting and browsing the web, any of the above models will do just fine.
