Amazon’s very first smartphone, the Fire Phone, was touted as a revolutionary device before it was out; however, somehow it managed to fall somewhat short of expectations. On the other hand, even though the technology doesn’t seem as spectacular as Amazon promised it would be, the phone still stands out from other similarly equipped offerings. If you want to see for yourself what the Fire Phone has to offer, now you have a chance to do so for much less money as the phone’s price got reduced to just 99 cents on contract.
Amazon Fire got a pretty generous price cut
It goes without saying that it’s a pretty generous price cut, especially if you take into consideration that AT&T is still selling the Fire for a full retail price of $199.99. Of course, if you go for Amazon you will still need to sign a new contract with AT&T but for $0.99, those two years don’t sound bad at all.
On-contract purchase is not the only option if you choose to buy the handset from Amazon. The retailer is also offering the Fire Phone with AT&T Next installment plan for $18.75 (Next 18) and $22.50 (Next 12), both with no down payment. For comparison, AT&T asks for the phone $27.09 and $32.50 with Next 18 and Next 12, respectively. Finally, if you want no obligations whatsoever, Amazon is also a better choice as the retailer is selling the phone for $449 outright, while AT&T’s price is still set at $649.99.
Wondering whether the Fire Phone would be the right choice for you? On the hardware side, the Amazon’s Fire offers a 4.7-inch 720p display, 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, 13-megapixel main camera and 2.1-megapixel user-facing snapper. The handset also comes with a bunch of sensors including four front-facing cameras which enable the Dynamic Perspective feature.
