Alcatel OneTouch PIXI 3 goes official compatible with three different operating systems – Android, Firefox and Windows Phone
Who would expect that the beginning of a new year would bring us such an interesting news? The maker of affordable smartphones, Alcatel, has decided to unveil their new unique handset dubbed OneTouch PIXI 3. Why the phone is so unexceptional? Well, It’s definitely not due to its cutting edge specs, but the fact that it goes on sale compatible with three different operating systems – Android, Firefox, and Windows Phone. So, no matter which OS fan you are, Alcatel has a proper option to you.
OneTouch PIXI 3 OS Agnostic Smartphone
Thought the this year’s Consumer Electronic Show 2015 is taking place between January 6th and 9th, the Alcatel has already officially announced their new device few days ahead, stealing giant mobile market players their audience. The PIXI 3 and the company’s very first smartwatch, simply called “Watch” will together initiate the Alcatel’s new lineup series called OS agnostic.
According to the manufacturer, the OS agnostic OneTouch PIXI 3 will deliver its future users choice of three different operating systems: Firefox, Windows Phone and Android. Although we still don’t know how this new solution will work in practice, the company promises their customers “more familiar environment” that delivers a cross-device integration between a smartphone and computer.
Aside of coming with three different operating systems, the phones will also come equipped with variety of screen sizes. You may choose between the most compact 3.5-inch, 4-inch, 4.5-inch and the biggest of all four 5-inch display. Additionally, all variants will support 4G LTE connectivity, with the exception of the 3.5-inch model which is said to feature only 3G connectivity.
Sadly, at this point we still know hardly anything about the phone’s specs, but the company is pretty straight about the hardware telling that its future users shouldn’t expect top notch tech parameters. It’s pretty obvious that those budget-friendly cannot rival with high class flagships of the giant manufacturers, but the company is sure that they will get masses of loyal fans.
Since the company has some experience with all three operating systems (just to refresh your memory: the Alcatel previous PIXI phone uses Google’s Android, their OneTouch Fire phone runs on Mozilla’s OS and their POP 2 operates on Windows Phone), they shouldn’t have any serious problem with any of three variants in one handset. To learn more about the phones’ hardware and software details, we will have to wait until CES in Las Vegas, since Alcatel is scheduled to showcase their new products during the event.
