TCL’s subsidiary group, Alcatel, refreshed its portfolio today by four more smartphones: the 5-inch Pixi 4, the Pop 4 Plus, the 6-inch Pixi 4 and the Pop 4 S. Although all newly released devices differ in terms of specs, they have one thing in common – a low price. Namely, they are budget-friendly offerings, whose pricing ranges from $79.99 to $169.99. The phones are already available via Best Buy and Amazon.
Expanding its affordable smartphone lineup Pixi and Pop, Alcatel launched four new phones. Available at Best Buy and Amazon all devices are easy on your wallet and offer 4G LTE and Android Marshmallow experience.
The 5-inch Pixi 4
For starters, the Alcatel Pixi 4 is the least advanced off all four phones. Being a 5-incher the handset houses a 854×480 p screen panel, and comes powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor coupled with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB of built-in though expandable storage.
Although the screen quality isn’t particularly good and it may be poorly readable in bright light, it’s sharp enough to deliver decent video experience. Meanwhile, the processing parameters, should provide potential users with smooth Android 6.0 Marshmallow performance. In the optics department, the Pixi 4 offers a combination of 5MP and 2MP rear and front cameras.
Interestingly enough, the phone is powered by a pretty decent 2,000 mAh battery and supports 4G LTE connectivity. As for design, although the Pixi 4 is made entirely out of plastic, it sports quite an attractive line, whereas its shiny silver color gives us a mirage of a metal body shell.
The 6-inch Pixi 4
When it comes to the phone’s bigger sibling, the 6-inch Pixi 4 isn’t just a larger, more-phablet like handset, but also the beefier of the two. Its screen features a higher 1280×720 p resolution, and its optics come represented by a 5MP selfie-oriented snapper and an 8MP primary camera, which typically for budget smartphones have limited mods and just modest photo quality.
Just as its smaller version, the 6-inch Pixi 4 is an LTE-capable phone and runs pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, it is equipped with a Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 2GB RAM. Its overall look strongly resembles the one featured by the 5-inch Pixi 4.
The Pop 4 Plus
Moving on, the Alcatel Pop 4 Plus hides a 5.5-inch display sporting the same resolution as the one found in the 6-inch Pixi 4 and has exactly the same camera parameters. But, at the same time, it packs a lesser only 2,500 mAh battery, instead of a 2,580 mAh one and just 1.5GB RAM. Driven by a quad-core processor, the Alcatel Pop 4 Plus is a dual-SIM device that delivers 32GB of storage, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and 4G LTE connectivity.
The Pop 4S
The Alcatel Pop 4S is surely the most advanced of the new Alcatel smartphones. Similarly to the Pop 4 Plus, it houses a 5.5-inch display, but the employed panel features 1920×1080 p of resolution. Furthermore, the Pop 4S boasts a 13MP back and 5MP front-facing sensors, and works on an octa-core processor with 2GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
Except for that, the phone offers a pretty generous 2,960 mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner, which is undoubtedly a feature common for high-end flagships. Just as the other three devices, the Pop 4S is an GSM LTE-capable handset running pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Pricing & Availability
Speaking of the pricing and accessibility details, Best Buy sells the smaller Pixi 4 for $79.99 and the bigger for $129.99. The Pop 4 Plus is priced at $99.99, whereas the Pop 4S costs $169.99. On the other hand, however, Amazon charges more for the Pop 4 Plus, selling it at $119.99 which is $19 more than at Best Buy.
