High-end and advanced tablets are in most cases aimed at very specific groups of users, for example professionals, business, gamers or budget oriented customers. Budget tablets are a whole different story, though. Since the demand for such devices seems to maintain at a steady and rather high level, especially in emerging markets, it looks like there is always a room for another affordable slate. To prove the theory true, Acer has released the Tab 7, which is offered by Chinese retailer JD at just CNY 599, which is an equivalent of $100 or €73. For now the tablet is available only in China; however, it may be launched in other markets too.

If you had any doubts as to the quality of such cheap device, it would be perfectly justifiable, but frankly speaking, the Acer Tab 7 appears to be a pretty solid offering for its price. The tablet is rather compact measuring 7.52 x 4.41 x 0.4 inch (191 x 112 x 9.9 mm) and tipping the scales at 10.20 ounces (289 g). The front of the device is occupied by a 7-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution above which sits a VGA camera.
On the back of the Acer Tab 7 you will find a 1.9-megapixel shooter. The slate is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and a 3,000 mAh battery keeps the lights on. The tablet offers 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory and a microSD slot for storage expansion. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Micro USB, Micro HDMI, OTG and 3.5 mm audio jack. The Acer Tab 7 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
