For over two weeks we have known that Acer was preparing a smaller Windows 8 tablet for launch. We were even granted a glimpse into its specs sheet thanks to numerous rumors and leaks. Whether intentionally or not, the tablet already made a brief public appearance on Amazon. A few days later, our attention shifted to Acer again when Denis Kutnikov, general director of Acer’s Russian office, revealed that the tablet would be introduced on June 4th. Now we have a reason to think that he might have been talking about release date in Russia since a device matching the said tablet’s characteristics appeared on Acer’s Finnish website.
Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 Tablet
The Acer Iconia W3 is an 8.1-inch tablet running the latest Windows 8 platform. The screen offers 1280 x 768 WXGA resolution and 16:10 ratio, making it perfect for watching movies on the go. The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail processor with Intel GMA 3650 graphics and 2 GB of RAM to complete the picture. The tablet will be available in two storage options: 32GB and 64GB.
The Acer Iconia W3 is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB 2.0 and a microHDMI port. Obviously, the tablet can be paired with a detachable keyboard dock. At the moment it is not known how much the tablet will cost. We may find out more at Computex which is scheduled for early June. This is actually what Kutnikov might have been referring to.
