The Taiwan based company Acer has announced three new tablets along with variety of notebooks and other devices during the massive IFA 2014 consumer-electronics trade show. The three tablets revealed belongs to the Iconia series and are aimed to budget oriented consumers. The set of new slates include: Acer Iconia Tab 8 W running Windows platform, Acer Iconia Tab 10, and Acer Iconia One 8. The two last tablets run on Android operating system. Let’s take a closer look what Acer prepared for us this time.
Acer Iconia Tab 8 W vs. Iconia Tab 10 vs. Iconia One 8 – What’s new.
The Iconia Tab 8 W, runs on Windows 8.1 with “Bing”and comes equipped with 8-inch 1200 x 800 pixel display along with Intel Atom Z3735G processor. The slate supposed to offer features for both main purposes – work and play. The device weights only 0.8 pounds and is just 0.38-inches thick. As a bonus, the the tablet ships with one year free Microsoft Office 365 Personal.
The Iconia Tab 8 comes with an optional “Acer Crunch Keyboard” that is easy to slip into a bag and carry around. The tablet is expected to be launched this November with price tag of $149.99.
The Acer Iconia Tab 10 features Dolby Digital Plus and stereo surround-sound speakers and 5.1 channel over stereo headphones, which would interest music or movie fans. It sports a larger (than its fellow Iconias) 10.1-inch FHD IPS display along with Zero Air Gap technology. It has an anti-fingerprint coating and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Under its hood, you will find a quad-core MediaTek processor and micro HDMI. It also has Wireless Display support and many other features. The Iconia Tab 10 will be launched in September in white and black color choices for only $199. And it will be available in the US.
And the final, Acer Iconia One 8 tablet is said to be designed for everyone. It is the extension of the Acer tablet line that started with the Acer Iconia One 7 back in April this year. The tablet offers an 8-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 800-pixels.
The tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor and it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Acer plans to launch this tablet in many different colors, such as jade green, sunshine yellow, vivid orange, sky blue, midnight black, essential white, violet purple, fragrant pink, sky blue, mia blue, garnet red and the availability of the device in these various colors will make the main selling point of this tablet.
The Iconia One 8 will not be available in the United States, because Acer intends to sell this device only in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) and it will be launched in October priced at €149, which is an equivalent of $191.
All of the above mentioned tablets offer fairly good value for the money you spend and may interest consumers who don’t want to splash out extra cash on other expensive and high-end tablets.
