Acer Aspire Switch 10 laptop-tablet hybrid

Acer Aspire Switch 10The name pretty much says it all. The Aspire Switch 10 is a 10-inch device that can easily switch between different laptop-tablet modes. There are four of them: Notebook, Pad, Display and Tent. In the Notebook mode, the device works as a typical laptop with a spacious keyboard and Precision Touchpad for fast and accurate input. In the Pad mode, the display is used as a tablet, for example for Web browsing on the go. Display mode allows you to switch the display to a different position quickly and easily. Finally, the Tent mode uses the keyboard to prop the display in a vertical position perfect for watching movies when you want to have your hands free.

The display docks to the keyboard with the help of snap hinges which use magnets for holding the two pieces together. The 10.1-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, is made in Zero Air Gap technology and features Acer LumiFlex solution for enhanced outdoors visibility. The Acer Aspire Switch 10 is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Bay Trail processor of unknown speed accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal memory. Moreover, the keyboard dock is capable of adding up to 500 GB of storage through a physical hard disk.

Other features include two cameras, front-facing speakers, a full-sized USB port, microSD slot, a miniature HDMI port and a battery that promises up to eight hours of usage time. The display measures 0.35 inches in thickness and weighs 1.29 lb. With the keyboard attached, we are looking at a 0.44-inch profile and 2.58 lb of weight. The Aspire Switch 10 will ship with Windows 8.1 on board and pre-loaded with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013.
