Remember the great success of the Galaxy Tab S? Featuring cutting edge specs and an extremely slim body housing the biggest Super AMOLED screen, the tablet gained in popularity, quickly conquering the hearts of many tech enthusiasts. And just right now Samsung is working on releasing a successor of this highly popular tablet. Called Galaxy Tab S2 the slate has been recently spotted on GFXBench along with a complete set of hardware and features including a 9.7-inch screen.
9.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
According to the benchmark leak, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will probably hit the market equipped with a Super AMOLED 9.7-inch display with 2048x1536p of resolution. At this point we can have doubts since the GFXBench indicates a 9.6-inch screen instead of the mentioned 9.7-inch one. But, conscious that the website often presents incomplete and sometimes unconfirmed specs, we can’t assume this just another misstep.
The Galaxy Tab S2 will be powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset (sporting four Cortex A53 cores and four Cortex A57 cores) with an aspect ratio of 4:3 combined with 3GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, of which 25GB will be available for use. This combination of processor specs will enable the slate’s future users to fully benefit from the Android 5.0’s (which is the most likely OS choice for the Galaxy Tab S2) support for 64-bit processing. Moreover, the mentioned operating system will be additionally enhanced by the latest version of the company’s own TouchWiz UI, which is said to have its premiere along with the Galaxy S6.
Moving on the tablet’s back side, the Galaxy Tab S2 is most probable to house an 8-megapixel (though GFXBench mentions a 7-megapixel unit) camera located on its back that is reportedly capable to record 1080p videos, but it still lacks a flash. The rear camera will be additionally accompanied by a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. When it comes to connectivity, the slate is reported to come in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE variants. Sadly, it won’t come with NFC function.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will come accompanied by a smaller 8-inch brother that is said to have almost identical specs, except a smaller battery and a compact body, of course. Both tablets are reported to feature a 5.4mm thick profile and a metallic bezel. However, knowing how thin the devices are planed to be, we can’t rule out that the slates will come closed in a full-metal shell.
