Have you ever wondered when and if smartphones will ever stop growing in size? Will manufacturers ever reach that magic number that will force them to say “ok, that’s enough”? After a couple of latest leaks the answer seems to be pretty obvious – not any time soon. Recent rumor suggest that a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega 7.0 phone is in the works. The phablet has been spotted at the FCC and in a leaked press image. When released, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 7.0 will be the largest phone that has hit the market so far.
7-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega 7.0 Smartphone
In fact, we are not quite sure if the Galaxy Mega 7.0 even deserves to be called a phablet, because it definitely is not an ordinary phone. With a screen measuring 7 inches diagonally, the device has the size of a small tablet, albeit having the design and functionality of a smartphone. A leaked press image presents a quite handsome handset with a leather-like back panel and very slim profile. Overall design seems to follow the cues of the traditional Galaxy appearance.
A couple of days ago the Galaxy Mega 7.0 showed up at the FCC. Following the visit we got a few details regarding phone’s hardware. According to the record, the device will arrive model number SM-T255 and offer 720p resolution which, given the size of the screen, won’t account for too impressive pixel density. The rest of the specs are not high-end either, which is actually characteristic of the Mega series.
The Galaxy Mega 7.0 is said to come with a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor possibly a Snapdragon 400, 1.5 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 8 GB of storage expandable via a microSD slot, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Enthusiasts of large phones will be in heaven; however, we are not quite sure that the rest of the audience will feel equally excited about the device. The size of the phablet rises a very important question – how big is too big? It is fun to watch a movie or play games on a 7-inch display, but the Galaxy Mega 7.0 comes with features of a phone and is intended to be used as such. But can you imagine holding that beast up to your ear? For sure will look funny not to mention it won’t be very handy. What are your thoughts on this matter?
