AT&T’s announcement from last week about the Samsung Galaxy S4 being priced at $249.99 with a two-year service agreement caused quite a commotion. Since the amount of storage was not mentioned, we did not know which model this price applies to. Today the carrier clarified any doubts and announced that it is the 32 GB version that will cost $249.99. AT&T will also carry a 16 GB model and this one will cost $199.99. In case you need a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available for pre-order starting April 16th, but so far there is no word on when exactly the device will start shipping.
Prices on Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S III
With the Galaxy S4 getting ready to hit the shelves in just a few weeks, the current Samsung flagship Galaxy S III experiences huge price cuts. The high-end handset is now available for $99.99 which is exactly half of what it previously cost. A $100 drop in price is a big step, but clearly AT&T understands that customers may need some extra incentive to buy the Galaxy S III, which although undoubtedly a great phone, will no longer be the latest one.
If the new price is still too high for you, you can opt for a refurbished device. AT&T has a wide selection of previously used phones and you can purchase the Galaxy S III for as little as $29 on contract. AT&T is the first to discount the Samsung flagship, but as the launch date of the Galaxy S4 approaches, other carrier will definitely follow.
