Sony fans in Europe seems to have more luck than in the US, since thy are getting the new waterproof Xperia V any time soon. The handset running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available in Russia in early December and will be offered for a recommended retail price of 24,990 RUB, which is equivalent of $800. Some markets, for example France, decided to push back the launch date of the phone to early January 2013 and sell the Xperia V with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The Sony Xperia V is rated IP5X and IPX5/7 which means that it is dust-proof and water resistant. It will come equipped with a 4.3-inch HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology, 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and shatter-proof sheet on scratch-resistant glass. The device will be powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 dual-core processor with Adreno 225 for graphics and 1 GB of RAM to complete the picture. There will be 8 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card slot.
The phone will be equipped with quite impressive 13 megapixel rear camera with Sony’s Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor, 16x digital zoom, auto focus, touch to focus feature, image stabilizer, geotagging, 3D Sweep Panorama, face and smile detection, red-eye reduction, Superior Auto, Sweep Multi Angle, and HD video recording. On the front there is a VGA camera for video chatting and self-portraits.
Music fans will certainly enjoy the new “WALKMAN” app and music player with Clear Audio+ and manual equalizer, compatible with MP3, 3GPP, MP4, SMF, WAV, OTA, and Ogg formats. The Xperia V is PlayStation certified and offers motion gaming and 3D games.
The Sony Xperia V, like any Android smartphone nowadays, packs a number of connectivity features like Bluetooth technology, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n with hotspot functionality, DLNA, NFC, and GPS with GLONASS.
