Ladies and gentlemen, history is happening before your very eyes. Walmart has dropped the price of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S to an unprecedented level. The first one can be yours for as little as $129. Previous price tag was showing $189, which means that now the phone is now available $60 cheaper, which is almost 32% off. Impressed? Check this out. The 16GB version of the iPhone 4S, can be yours for just $39. This is a $50 discount from the previous price of $89, which is 56% off if you prefer percentages.
New prices on iPhones are permanent.
This is not the end of good news. Walmart also confirmed that this is not a limited time offer and new pricing is permanent. The deals are available for Verizon, AT&T or Sprint customers. Obviously, you will be required to sign a new two-year contract with the carrier of your choice. Unfortunately, T-Mobile customers are not eligible for the deal. Maybe next time. Phones at the new price point are available for purchase in local stores only.
Both, the huge price cuts together with the permanence of the offer, make the deal unique, especially since the Apple products are not discounted very often. Temporary price cuts are fairly common, but due to limitations imposed by Apple they usually range around $10. Apparently, Walmart took not one but a few steps forward in offering the iPhones at an affordable prices. Chances are that other retailers will follow.
There are a few explanations as to why Walmart discounted the iPhones so aggressively. The most plausible claims that the retailer is trying to sell as many items as possible before the rumored launch of the iPhone this fall. Whatever the reason, the iPhone 4S for $39 and the iPhone 5 for $129 sound like a sweet deal.
