The good the bad of buying refurbished phones

What you need to know:

The good:

You will get a phone in new or like new cosmetic condition.

Tested phone working at 100% capacity.

Good reasonable price. Savings between to 20 – 50%.

A great choice between used phones and brand new ones.

No contracts, no long term commitments when you buy from third party retailer.

Eco choice – less used phones in the landfill and support recycling programs.

The bad:

You won’t know the history of the phone under the hood. What was the issue that the handset must be refurbished? What was fixed or replaced? How serious was it?

Water damaged phones refurbished locally or China may have hidden corrosion which may limit the phone life.

Accessories coming with refurbished phone may not be the original.

It is suggested to purchase an extended warranty on non manufacturer refurbished phones especially those refurbished in China.

Missing original retail packaging.
