Remember a mysterious phone with a model number Sony C550X which was codenamed Dogo? We have a reason to believe that this handset is going to be Sony’s next offering and will be released under the name Xperia ZR. The phone will be even more resistant to elements that the Xperia Z but at the same time will be easier to handle thanks to its smaller size. However, apart from the approximate weight of about 4.94 ounces (140g), exact measurements are not known yet.
Sony Xperia ZR with IP55/IP58 Certification
One of the most appealing features of the Sony Xperia ZR is its durability. With its high resistance to water, dust, high and low temperatures, vibration and more, the handset is a truly heavy duty champion. The Xperia ZR features the IP55/IP58 certification and if you remember well, the Xperia Z was rated IP55/IP57. The higher last number stands for water resistance. In other words, it means that the Xperia ZR can be submerged 1.5 meters under water for 30 minutes with no damage whatsoever.
In terms of design, the Sony Xperia ZR takes after the Xperia ZL. It features a 4.6-inch 720 x 1280 pixel display and is powered by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro chipset. We sure hope it is the newer 600 series, but his detail has not been confirmed by any source so far. The handset comes with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card slot. The phone also sports a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor. Power will be delivered by a generous 2,300 mAh battery.
