The day has finally arrived that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is available for purchase. At the moment, the handset is offered by two of the US major carriers, AT&T and Sprint, but others will follow soon. The units sold on different carriers are basically identical, however, they will be priced differently. As expected, the Galaxy S4 for AT&T costs $199.99 with a new contract. There is one drawback, though. You will have to march down to your local AT&T store, as the handset is not available for online purchase.
Samsung Galaxy S4 for AT&T and Sprint
Sprint has the phone on sale online for a much more budget-friendly price of $149.99. However, only new customers will be able to purchase the Galaxy S4 for such an attractive price. And this is not the only condition, as those customers also will have to bring their own number to Sprint. Existing subscribers will have to shell out $100 more, that is $249.99 If you prefer not to be tied down to one carrier for the next 24 months, the off-contract price is $639 and $599 on AT&T and Sprint respectively.
Both, AT&T and Sprint, offer the 16 GB model in two color options – Black Mist and White Frost. Key features of the Samsung Galaxy S4 include a brilliant 5-inch Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.9 GHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity, and a powerful 2600 mAh battery. The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and brings some new functionalities such as Smart Scroll. The feature uses the front-facing camera to detect your eye movement and scroll the screen up or down. Other useful apps include Smart Pause, S Translator, Group Play and more.
