Previous rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S III heading to Walmart stores are now confirmed. Indeed, the handset arrived at select Walmart locations, however it is not available for purchase yet. Customers will be able to grab the phone starting next week, starting May 20, for a very reasonable price of $439.99 without contract. The first image of the retail package reveals that the Galaxy S III will be compatible with Straight Talk $45 Unlimited Plan and $60 International Unlimited Plan. The phone is already available for purchase through the Straight Talk online store.
Samsung Galaxy S III for Straight Talk
You should be aware, that the small LTE-S badge in the lower corner of the box points to Sprint’s CDMA-LTE network. Sprint guarantees unlimited talk and text as well as data services, so if 4G LTE coverage is available in your location, the $45 monthly deal is quite a treat. Especially when you compare it to Sprint’s current postpaid rates which are twice as expensive as Straight Talk plans.
The Samsung Galaxy S III for Straight Talk available at Walmart is not very different from the other versions of the phone. The device sports a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz processor.
The handset comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with Zero Shutter Lag, Burst Shot and Best Photo. There is also a 1.9-megapixel camera on the front, which is perfect for video chatting. You will have 16 GB of storage for your photos and other content. The Walmart model of the Galaxy S III will be shipped with OS updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and with the latest version of TouchWiz UI.
