The list of most likely candidates for the unveiling during Samsung’s special event on June 20 is getting shorter day after day. After the Galaxy S4 Mini was announced last week, another device just got its name removed from the list. The phone in question is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active – a ruggedized version of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone. The handset will be available this summer on both sides of the ocean. AT&T seems the most probable to carry the phone in the US. In Europe, the device will be launched first in Sweden, with other countries to follow soon after.
Waterproof Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active received IP67 certification which means that it is more resistant to elements than any average smartphone. The device is dustproof and waterproof, it can be submerged in up to three feet of water (1 meter) for up to 30 minutes without the risk of any damage. Samsung assumed that you would want to take full advantage of the phone’s water-resistance and equipped its 8-megapixel rear camera with special Aqua Mode for better quality of underwater photos.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active sports a 5-inch Full HD display, LTE radio, and a 2,600 mAh battery. The phone is powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor and comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean together with pre-loaded apps takes up about almost 5 GB, so you will be left with a little over 11 GB. Luckily, there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The handset also offers HSPA+, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and an infrared port.
The phone will be available in three color options: Urban Grey, Dive Blue, and Orange Flare.
