Rumor about Nokia Android smartphones has been put to the end for now

ByinLeaks & Rumors | December 2, 2012

Nokia Android Phone

One of the hottest rumors from last week was that the Nokia is about to preparing for Android OS. On its LinkedIn page, Nokia posted a job listing claiming that they look for a software engineer to oversee “embedded Linux device software and hardware drivers for our exciting new products”. Since the company is a phone manufacturer, and Android is built based on Linux, it might suggest that Android is on its way to Nokia smartphones. Well, what would you say for a slim and colorful Nokia handsets with choice of cyan, yellow, red, white and black together with Android 4.2 Jelly Beans instead of Windows 8.

Today, Doug Dawson, a head of the Nokia’s Media Relations put to the end the rumor by posting on Twitter: ” Hi. Our recently posted job is linked to our HERE Maps support for other platforms, including iOS and Android. Nothing more.” So folks, this is it. No Nokia Android smartphones any time soon or at least not yet.  Some time ago Nokia decided to work with Microsoft exclusively and do not bother with Google. It looks like a shift in the partnership is not possible for now, especially while the popularity of Windows 8 smartphones is growing together with Nokia’s flagship phone – Lumia 920.
