No matter how careful you are, there is always a risk of accidentally damaging your phone. There two things you can do: either be even more careful, or buy a rugged phone. And what if I don’t like this rugged looks at all? you ask. Well, there is always the Kyocera Torque E6710 that we wrote about a couple of weeks ago, which combines durability with more standard design and interesting features. The handset was officially confirmed today by Sprint and will be available soon, probably in early March.
Learn more about the Kyocera Torque
The Kyocera Torque E6710 is rated at mil-spec 810G for protection from dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, humidity, blowing rain, low pressure, salt fog, and extreme temperatures and also has IP67 certificate, which means it can withstand up to 30 minutes in up to 3-feet deep water with no harm.
One of the unique features of Kyocera Torque is its Smart Sonic Receiver audio technology, which transmits sounds via vibrations through things such as helmets or ear protection, so reduced voice clarity will be no longer an issue. The handset is pre-loaded with battery management software called Eco Mode and MaxiMZR which helps increase battery life by blocking background data connections.
Torque’s key features include a 4-inch WVGA LCD display, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1 GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera and a 1.3-megapixel user-facing camera. The phone also offers 4 GB of built-in expandable via microSD card slot compatible with up to 32 GB cards, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS navigation and ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
