LG Spirit for Metro PCSMetro PCS today announced its latest Android smartphone, the LG Spirit. The handset, which joined the 4G LTE lineup today, is described as having “top-of-line features” and a “sleek and stylish frame.” The LG Spirit is selling for $199 after a $70 mail-in rebate, and since Metro PCS is a prepaid carrier, it does not require signing a contract and can be paired with the carrier’s 4G LTE plans starting at $40.

LG Spirit for Metro PCS – Overview

LG Spirit 4G LTEThe LG Spirit for Metro PCS is a handsome-looking device with quite decent specs and is definitely worth a closer look. It measures 5.08 x 2.61 x 0.37 inches and weights 4.3 ounces. The first thing you notice when you pick up a phone is usually its display. In the case of the Spirit it is a 4.5-inch touch screen with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution, which is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass for additional protection from scrapes and scratches.

The handset’s 1.2 GHz dual-core processor is powerful enough to deal with any task and the 2150 mAh battery can handle up to 4 hours talk time and up to 200 hours standby time.

The LG Spirit packs two cameras: a 5 megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video capture and a 1.3 megapixel user-facing camera for video chats. The main camera offers LED flash and a handful of useful features, for example Cheese Shutter which takes a picture when you say the word “cheese”, or Time Catch Shot to capture the right pictures at the right moments. For your photos you will have 4 GB of internal memory and thanks to a microSD card slot accepting up to 32 GB cards, you will be able to expand the storage capacity up to 36 GB total.

Connectivity features include support for super fast 4G LTE network, Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless connection with devices such as headsets and car kits, and Wi-Fi with hotspot capabilities for sharing LTE connection with other smartphones, tablets, laptops or PCs.

The Spirit being such a nice device you could expect it to run one of the versions of Android Jelly Bean but unfortunately the operating system you will get out of the box is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The phone comes pre-loaded with QuickMemo app, which allows you to take notes or doodle directly on the screen and then share it with your friends. It is also compatible with Metro PCS joyn service which provides a unified and intuitive way to share content with enriched services like integrated instant messaging or chat, WiFi and video calling. The official joyn app can be downloaded via Google Play and the @metro App Store.
