Remember our article about Lava’s “fastest smartphone ever” powered by Intel processor coming soon? The official launch date for the XOLO X1000 was set to March 14 and, right on time, the handset was officially announced at an event in Goa, India. As for now, the phone is available from online retailer Flipkart for Rs 19,999 off contract, which is an equivalent of $385. We are still waiting on details on global availability and pricing.
Xolo X1000 powered by 2 GHz Intel Atom
At first glance, and second and third too, the Xolo X1000 looks quite interesting. It boasts a 4.7-inch 720p LCD display with 2.5D edge-to-edge slightly curved glass for enhanced viewing experience, an 8 megapixel rear camera with single LED flash and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing shooter. Previous rumors led us to believe that the handset would be powered by the latest Intel Clover Trail+ processor, but it turns out that it will come with a 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2480 chip with Hyper Threading instead. For graphics it will pack PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
In terms of memory, the phone offers 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD slot compatible with up to 32 GB cards. The Xolo X1000 also features dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR and a 1900 mAh battery should be powerful enough to deliver up to 9.5 hours of talk time, up to up to 38 hours playback and up to 14 days standby time. Disappointingly, the phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but on a positive note the OS can be upgraded to 4.1 Jelly Bean.
