If the latest rumors pan out, we shall see the veil go up on the next-generation iPhone as soon as June. According to Japanese website MacFan, Apple will announce the new iPhone, which apparently will be called either iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, on June 20th and the device will go on sale a few weeks later, in July. The same source also brings news about the rumored low-cost iPhone. It seems that the phone, coming in a pre-paid form, could be available in August in developing markets such as China and India.
Apple iPhone 5S / iPhone 6 – Release Date
Back to the iPhone 5S, the rumored launch date appears to concur with what we have been hearing for a number of sources and even a couple of analysts, all of them pointing to early summer for possible release of the device. The date gains even more credibility due to the fact that, apart from the iPhone 4S and 5, earlier iterations of the smartphone were released in June and July. Many believe that is going back to old schedule and spacing out its product could be a smart move on Apple’s part.
On the other hand, there seems to be something odd about this particular date. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will take place between June 10 and 14 and it feels unlikely that the company would organize another event in the following week. But it is not entirely impossible too. At the moment, there are two things we can advise you to do: take the news with a grain of salt, and wait for more information. If any appear, we will let you know immediately.
